Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra with Jaap van Zweden and Inmo Yang
The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra is a symphony orchestra based in Seoul, South Korea and was founded shortly after the country's independence from Japan in 1945. The orchestra has experienced some trouble getting its footing as an internationally acclaimed orchestra, largely due to South Korea's tumultuous history over the last half of the 20th Century. However, recently, due in no small part to the South Korea's drive to raise the public's perception of its cultural treasures, the Seoul Philharmonic has risen to become one of the world's most well-respected orchestra's performing today. Led by the equally respected conductor Myung-Whun Chung, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra has truly become a force to be reckoned with, and is considered by many to be one of the few major orchestras today successfully bringing classical music into the 21st Century.
