Miskolc-natives Paddy O'Reilly, Vince Murphy, Joey MacOnkay came together in 2008 to form the highly-popular Hungarian band Paddy and the Rats and were later joined by Seamus Connelly, Sonny Sullivan, Sam McKenzie. There music is a combination of Irish and Celtic folk blended with punk rock and interspersed with Russian, Romani and Polka elements. The group debuted in 2010 with its album Rats on Board, which became a success outside of Hungary as well. Its follow-up, Hymns For Bastards, dropped in 2011 and featured a more upbeat vibe than its predecessor. The following years saw the release of other albums such as Tales from the Docks, Lonely Hearts' Boulevard and Riot City Outlaws. The band's most popular tracks include "The Captain's Dead," "Drunken Sailor," "Join the Riot" and "Where Red Paints the Ocean."
