English-born jazz guitarist John McLaughlin is said by many to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He has been Miles Davis' session guitarist for his legendary jazz fusion records like Bitches Brew, A Tribute to Jack Johnson, and On the Corner. In addition to his work with Davis, McLaughlin is known for his band the Mahavishnu Orchestra, a band that draws inspiration from traditional Indian classical music. Over a long career of a multitude of projects, McLaughlin has been cited by an equally vast array of guitarists as a primary inspiration--from Black Flag, to Pat Metheny, to Jeff Beck.
