Jerusalem is a play by English playwright and film director Jeremy "Jez" Butterworth that premiered to rave reviews at London's Royal Court in 2009. Inspired by a hymn with the same name written by 19th Century English poet William Blake, Jerusalem follows a modern day "pied piper" who has to deal with the law for being a drug dealer, his son who wants to be taken to the fair and a group of youngsters who want access to his copious supply of alcohol and drugs. Following the play's 2009 debut, Jerusalem was able to transition into an award winning West End production in 2010, and once more on Broadway in 2011.
