Ella Riot

Calling its genre of music "DanceThink," meaning that it's intended to move the feet and the mind, Ella Riot is a five-piece based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Initially going by the name My Dear Disco and creating more experimental instrumental music, the group decided to change its name and shift its sound upon meeting Michelle Chamuel, who now acts as the band's front woman. Since this alteration in 2009, the band began producing danceable synthpop with a focus on jazzy female vocals that sometimes evoke 1940s lounge singers and sometimes evoke 1980s divas.
