Greenville, South Carolina's The Malah is a three-piece livetronica band known for its jam rock influences. The group's organic style is characterized by live drums, guitar, bass, multiple synthesizers and the use of samples and loops. Seth Fankhauser attacks his drumkit with expert precision--changing time signatures or adapting to different feels at the drop of a hat. This studied attention to craft is apparent in the rest of the band as well, as the members of The Malah play off of each other during long, winding buildups and solo sections that have won the band fans of electronic music and jam rock alike. The group's inclusion of occasional world, hip-hop and dubstep elements has broadened its appeal even further, leading to performances alongside some notable names, such as STS9, Umphrey's McGee and Disco Biscuits.
