The Dogmatics are a rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in the 1980s. The band was founded by Paul O'Halloran, his twin brother Pete, longtime friend Jerry Lehane, and Dan Shannon. They gained local recognition and released their first single, "Gimme the Shakes," in 1984. Signing with Homestead Records, they released their debut album, Thayer Street, in 1985. The band embarked on tours, performing with notable acts like The Replacements and The Bangles. Tragedy struck in 1986 when Paul O'Halloran passed away in a motorcycle accident. The surviving members continued to play live shows, and in 1998, their two LPs were reissued with previously unreleased tracks. The Dogmatics have made contributions to tribute records and their songs continue to receive airplay on various radio stations. In 2019, they released new recordings, marking their first in over three decades, through Rum Bar Records.
