Freak Owls is the indie pop/folk trio from New York that came about as a vehicle for frontman Josh Ricchio to express his restlessness and anxiety with music. So what? One might ask. In a new musical paradigm where every young person with an attitude seems to have something to say musically, what does your average listener care for their problems? Well, not only does Freak Owls manage to transcend its own dubious premise, but manages to convince listeners and critics that it not only has something to say, but also has something to offer its listeners in the form of truly excellent music. Having proven itself at festivals and competitions throughout the nation, it would be silly for audiences not to give Ricchio's band a listen.
