Some musicians are born with talent. Others learn it through meticulous practice. American jazz saxophonist Greg Osby falls into this later category. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Osby studied at Howard University, where he majored in jazz studies before moving on to the prestigious Berkelee College of Music. During his studies, Osby refined his approach and became one of the more tasteful saxophone players of his generation. Having played with big names of the jazz community like Jack DeJohnette, Jim Hill and Andrew Hall, as well as with the seminal jam band The Dead during their 2003 tour, Osby has had no problem proving his worth and indoctrinating listeners of his playing about the boundless wonders of jazz music.
