As a child, Jerry Costanzo had a very musical upbringing. His parents taught him how to play the saxophone when he was in third grade and during his formative youth, his folks would turn the radio up loud and prod their son to sing to whatever was on, be it Perry Como, Nat Cole, Frank Sinatra or other classic crooners. In 1980, Costanzo's father started a jazz-inspired big band group and asked him to play saxophone in the ensemble. Though he was familiar with the jazz style, Costanzo had trained himself in other genresc, mainly rock and pop. But he soon caught on and shortly became the center of attention within the group, treating audiences to harrowing solos that begged for admiration. While blowing the sax had always been Costanzo's main musical endeavor, he decided to take a crack and leading the band and being its vocalist in 1985. The role suited him well and ever since, Costanzo has been steadily building a respectable reputation for himself as one of the leading vintage crooners of his generation.
