New York-born artist Maria Muldaur is a folk-blues singer/songwriter who was part of the original American folk music revival of the early 1960s as the vocalist and violinist of groups such as Jim Kweskin & The Jug Band. She released her eponymous debut solo album in 1973, and earned national attention for the hit single "Midnight at the Oasis." After releasing her second album Waitress In a Donut Shop, in 1974, she established a friendship with Grateful Dead and went on to work with the band as a backing vocalist during the late 1970s. Muldaur continued to release her own material during this era and into the 21st century, while also finding time to collaborate with acts such as the Jerry Garcia Band.
