Formed on the 4th of July, 2001, in southwest Ohio, NewFound Road is a bluegrass band infused with gospel influences. Originally consisting of Tim Shelton (guitar), Rob Baker, Jr. Williams (banjo), and Tim Caudill (bass), the group prioritized maintaining a traditional acoustic bluegrass sound highlighted by robust vocal harmonies. After Caudill's departure, Randy Barnes, previously with Rhonda Vincent, joined the band. They recorded two gospel albums, including 2003's "Full Heart," before shifting toward secular themes with 2005's "Somewhere Between," leading to a deal with Rounder Records. Their subsequent albums, like 2006's "Life in a Song" and 2009's "Same Old Place," continued to showcase their traditional bluegrass style, with a lineup featuring Shelton, Williams, Joe Booker on mandolin, and Jamey Booher on bass.
