Genghis Tron

While some might consider it distasteful to mix analogous genres like electronica and heavy metal, the members of Genghis Tron have done it and the results are what you might expect: interesting. The New York based trio, founded in 2004, does not have a bass player or a drummer - instead opting to use computer drum machine programs and synthesizers - but is still able to carry on and somehow sound extremely heavy. Known as a conglomeration of doom metal, ambient, and grindcore, the band has received a fair amount of acclaim and has toured with the likes of Converge, Kylesa and the Faint, while its 2008 album Board Up the House received Album of the Year by UK magazine Rock Sound.
