Nina Hagen

Flamboyant, in-your-face and unconventional, Nina Hagen has built a career built upon playing by her own rules. The German singer debuted in the mid-1970s, drawing inspiration from the era's punk and art rock scenes. In the early 1980s, a move to New York City exposed her avant-garde work to a larger audience and even helped yield her a Top 10 dance track called "New York New York." Since then, Hagen has maintained her music career while also dabbling in a number of different enterprises, including theatre acting work and hosting a show on the British Sci-Fi Channel.
