Vesselina Kasarova is a mezzo-soprano opera vocalist from Bulgaria. She made a name for herself at a young age as she studied piano and voice. She made her debut with the Sofia National Opera while still in school. After graduating from the Sofia Conservatory, she was re recruited into the Zurick Opera in 1989 and quickly became a local sweetheart for her virtuosic abilities and intense vocal timbres. She's since established herself as an international opera star, with roles like Venus in Wagner's Tannhauser, Helene in Offenbach's La Belle Helene and the title role in Bizet's Carmen.
