Based out of Chicago, Lubriphonic is a band comprised of individuals who all have respectable pasts, performing and playing with talented instrumentalists--some members even going on tour to serve as backing musicians for well-known singer/songwriters. Breaking out with its eponymous 2003 album, Lubriphonic has become a stalwart outfit of the Midwest funk scene, as the group is known to create rousing sentiments in audiences during live performances. Though blues-inspired vocals permeate many of the band's songs, Lubriphonic is in an element all its own when digging into serious jams. These sonic excursions highlight the dense instrumental adeptness of all the musicians in the band--especially the more than capable horn section.
