Paper Thick Walls is an American indie folk outfit based out of Chicago. Before the five-piece had even released any music, it struck the fancy of sound engineer Mike Hagler (Wilco, Neko Case), who insisted on recording its debut LP in 2011. Combining traditional folk styles with a twee sensibility, the group's charmingly earnest songwriting approach should be a breath of fresh air for indie folk listeners looking for some beautiful and simple, but effective, new songs. Paper Thick Walls utilizes acoustic guitar, mandolin, stand-up bass and light drumming to compile its instrumentation setup, but it's the male/female harmonization of Eric Michaels and Kate Schell that gives the group its trademark sound.
