Evidently influenced by the indie rock being created in the early 2000s, Cancel the Astronauts is a five-piece unafraid to play likable, non-pretentious music, indebted to its predecessors. Based out of Edinburgh, the band formed in 2007 and immediately went about building a fan base by performing its catchy, synth-driven indie rock, centered around charming choruses and pop hooks. After landing on BBC radio and opening for acts like Marina & the Diamonds and Frightened Rabbit, Cancel the Astronauts amassed attention for its debut EP and has been releasing new music and touring steadily ever since.
