Essentially the project of actress, singer and dancer Daphne Rubin-Vega, Pajama Party enjoyed success in the late 1980s as a Latin freestyle girl group. The Brooklyn-based outfit became best known for its single "Yo Ne Se," a fusion of Latin hip-hop and electronic dance music, with lyrics sung in Spanish. Though the group shifted lineups regularly and only lasted until 1992, Rubin-Vega used the band as a launching pad for her career and went on to star in the Broadway musical Rent, worked in film and released several solo albums. Still helmed by Rubin-Vega, Pajama Party reunites on occasion to perform festivals and tribute concerts.
