Emanuela Trane was born in Galatina, Italy and is best known by her stage name Dolcenera. This singer, songwriter, and actress signed with the independent record label Amarena Music in 2000. By 2002, Dolcenera won the Italian singing contest Destinazione Sanremo, which was created to choose the Fesitval di Sanremo contestants for New Artists. With a powerful voice and the confidence of a veteran performer, she went on to win the New Artist category as well as the Press, TV and Radio Award. Later the same year, Dolcenera released her first album, Sorriso Nucleare, which she followed with a tour. Dolcenera dropped her fifth studio album in May of 2011 titled Evoluzione Della Specie, with EMI Music.
