JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound is a post-punk/neo-soul band from Chicago that has been slowly but steadily rising to become one of the city's most celebrated indie acts. Led by the eponymous JC Brooks, there is no doubt that the band's allure lies in the incredibly versatile and soulful voice of its frontman. Since its humble beginnings as a fledgling headliner at Chicago's Empty Glass, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound have quite literally hit a chord with its audiences throughout the city, and was invited to perform for Mayor Rahm Emanuel's inauguration in 2011.
