The Australian duo, Marcus Azon and Cameron “Pepa” Knight formed the band Jinja Safari in 2010. In addition to being named after the East African town, the band’s music also reflects a connection to the African music Marcus Azon grew up with. In early 2010, the two Aussies met at a beach party in New South Wales, and soon after began exchanging emails and creating music calling their sound Forest Rock. Jinja Safari’s folky African inspired rhythms and indie pop vocals created blissful island melodies that gained popularity around the world.In 2016, the band announced that it would be splitting up for good after releasing a final album as a parting gift for fans.
