Abd al Malik is the name taken on by Régis Fayette-Mikano, a French rapper and spoken-word artist from the Congo who is widely considered to be one of the more promising up-and-coming rappers and poets in the French language. Following the release of his debut album Le Face à face des cœurs in 2004, Abd al Malik released several follow-up recordings highlighting his skill as a rapper and a particularly moving poet. Among other awards, Abd al Malik took home the prestigious Prix Constantin for his second album Gibraltar in 2006.
