Shubha Mudgal is a well known female singer/songwriter who has built a respectable reputation for herself by blending traditional Northern Indian music with more contemporary pop sounds. Born to a family with a deep interest in classical Hindustani music, Mudgal began her love affair with composition at an early age. These music foundations planted in Mudgal would go on to influence her perception of sounds and the importance of culturally distinct tones that can define a certain geographical location. Though Mudgal had a strong interest in writing music, her songs weren't really noticed until she started combining her affinity for contemporary pop tracks within the context of historically affluent Indian cultural music. Her first album, Ali More Angana, was released in 1996 and it established the singer/songwriter as a talented songsmith who's unafraid to incorporate styles of pop music with sonic socio-allegory to create a style that is rewarding to listen to and deserving of radio play.
