Kavinsky is the animated moniker of electro house producer Vincent Belorgey, who rose to fame with his moody contributions to the 2011 film, Drive. According to Belorgey's story, Kavinsky crashed his Ferrari Testarossa in 1986, only to return as a zombie in 2006 with the sole purpose of creating electronic music. The creative back story is only bolstered by the fact that the music Belorgey creates as Kavinsky indeed sounds like it was directly transported out of the glitzy and colorful decade of the 1980s--albeit with a modern electronic sheen. With the success of fellow French electro house artists such as Justice and Daft Punk in full swing, it seemed to be only a matter of time before Belorgey caught his break, and in 2011, he did just that with his work on the Drive soundtrack. His songs perfectly complement the slick, nostalgia-heavy mood of the film, offering uninitiated audiences their first taste of his hip and well-constructed 1980s pop throwbacks.
