BK-One is a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based DJ who supplies the lively backing tracks for popular rap artist Brother Ali. Immersing himself in the worlds of jazz, music theory and record collecting from a young age, it's no wonder that his style has rounded into form as one built from many different influences. Using reggae, world music, funk, jazz, rock, afrobeat and the underlying presence of hip-hop, his work caught the eye of fellow Minneapolis artist Brother Ali in the late-1990s, and soon, the two were at work on a musical partnership. Though BK-One is seemingly comfortable with his behind the scenes role on the decks, he released a solo album in 2009 that showcased his impeccable skills and featured guests such as Raekwon, Murs, The Grouch and Black Thought.
