Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby was an award-winning American jazz crooner and actor. Born in Tacoma, Washington in 1903, his deep baritone voice helped make him one of the best-selling and most-recognizable singers of all-time, as evidenced by his over 500 million sold records. His combination of smooth swing jazz singing and clean-cut pop appeal made him a relevant icon for nearly 50 years, right up until his death from a heart attack in 1977. In addition to his legendary vocal work, Crosby also enjoyed much success as an actor. Starring in films such as Going My Way, The Bells of St. Mary's and Here Comes the Groom, he was awarded with Academy Award nominations three times, winning once. Crosby will always be considered one of the greats of the jazz vocal pop era for new generations to discover and enjoy.
