The Brazilian singer/songwriter Caetano Veloso was well-known throughout his home country up until his exile to London in the late 1960s. This caused his fame to flourish in France, Israel and Africa. He is considered part of the Tropicàlia, a musical, theatrical and poetic movement of the decade before his exile. His folk sound melds with a Brazilian rhythm that creates a smooth and unique melody, pleasant to the ears, yet always authentic and unique. He has over 50 albums and has worked with countless artists, including Nirvana and directors Michelangelo Antonioni, Pedro Almodovar and Julie Taymor.
