Joe Stilgoe is a singer/songwriter and pianist from Sevenoaks, Kent, in the UK who creates a pop-infused brand of swing music. As he studied jazz at Trinity College of Music, he collected a following by playing in local bars and night clubs, and eventually earned a big enough audience to secure a residency at The Dorchester hotel in London. After snagging the attention of notable jazz vocalist Dame Cleo Laine, Stilgoe was invited to perform on her husband Sir John Dankworth's radio show, which exposed him to a national audience as well as international jazz labels. He released his debut album, I Like This One, with the New York-based imprint Candid Record in 2008, garnering critical acclaim for his improvisation as well as for his affinity for melodies.
