Kobra and the Lotus is a heavy metal band from Calgary, Canada that was formed in 2009 by lead singer/songwriter Kobra Paige. Releasing its debut album Out of the Pit in 2010, the group managed to turn some heads in the metal community, which led to the group being noticed by KISS bassist Gene Simmons, who offered to sign the group to his Simmons/Universal label. With a throwback sound--that has been compared to New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands Iron Maiden and Iced Earth--Kobra and the Lotus has distinguished itself from its peers and managed to find a fairly large international following, thanks to its relentless touring schedule and frequent appearances at large scale music fests.
