Jody Watley is a Grammy award-winning musician from Chicago who began her career as a part of Shalamar, a dance-soul trio. Before pursuing music as her career, Watley performed as a dancer for the television program called Soul Train. She released her self-titled debut album in 1987 which featured popular singles like "Looking for a New Love" and "Don't You Want Me." Besides making music, Watley was also a part of the Broadway musical Grease in 1996, in which she played the character of Rizzo. Watley was honored with Billboard Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
