Alcoa is the solo project of New Hampshire-born singer/songwriter Derek Archambault. Though Archambault is best known as the front man of the melodic punk band Defeater, he has operated under the moniker Alcoa for longer period of time than with his hardcore band, which formed in 2008. With indie rock leanings inspired by songwriters like Johnny Cash and Elliot Smith, Alcoa was put on the back burner during Defeater's four year touring and recording schedule from 2008 to 2012, but Alchambault reinvigorated the project in 2012 and released his debut album as Alcoa, titled Bone & Marrow, in 2013.
