Imagine you're living in Miami in the early 80s. People are wearing sports coats rolled up to their elbows, guys are perming their hair, neon colors are in fashion, Regan's in office and people are listening to a style of music that seems to hold no lasting relevance except for the moment it's played in. While this time, place and music have all grown to be looked at as slightly comical as time passes, there are a few musicians keeping this nostalgic style of feel-good music alive. One such individual is the Chicago-based electronic music composer Marc Zielinski, who releases music under the guise The Pillars of Creation. Zielinski's music is hazy pop for a new generation and despite the absence of vocals, the music that Zielinski creates manages to be pertinent, relevant and stirring all at the same time.
