The Unclued is an experimental folk duo comprised of San Francisco-based hip-hop artist Aesop Rock and Seattle-based folk musician Kimya Dawson. Initially conceived in 2007 after Aesop Rock wrote a letter to Dawson, expressing his admiration for her unique style of baroque folk, the two ended up connecting several years later and collaborating on what would go on to become The Uncluded. After holding a few casual jam sessions, the duo decided that the interesting music that was being produced was worthy of recording. The group's 2013 debut LP, Hokey Fight, managed to resonate well with both artists respective fan bases and helped to further solidify both Aesop Rock and Dawson's musical credibility.
