Since being founded in 1977, The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra has grown to become one of the more celebrated chamber orchestras on the Scandinavian classical music scene. Though the ensemble will frequently play orchestrations by some of history's more revered composers, it has also distinguished itself by premiering new works by Norwegian as well as foreign composers.
