Black Grape, a rock group from Greater Manchester, originally formed with members from the bands Happy Mondays and Rap Assassins. Its very first album It’s great when you are straight… Yeah hit the UK albums chart as number one in 1995 with three of its singles featuring in the top 20 list. Their second album Stupid Stupid Stupid did not do commercially well but it did garner praise from the critics. The Black Grape disbanded in the year 1998 due to differences in opinions among the members. Co-founder Shaun Ryder, got together with producer Danny Saber and rapper and former member Paul “Kermit” to reform the band for a concert series in London in 2010. The year 2015 saw the announcement of the band’s tour to mark the 20th year of its debut album.
