Cap'n Jazz is an emo band from Chicago that was formed in 1989. After building a solid reputation for itself in the Midwest as one of the premier emo bands, the group would go on to release its debut album, Shmap'n Shmazz, in 1994. Though the band broke up in 1995, Cap'n Jazz has periodically reformed to play shows and festivals.
