Bloodbath, a Swedish death metal supergroup comprising the members of celebrated bands such as Opeth, Katatonia and Paradise Lost, borrows its name from British metal band Cancer's song "Blood Bath." Formed in 1998, the group was originally composed of Mikael Åkerfeldt, Dan Swanö, Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström and Jonas Renkse. It made its debut in 2000 with the EP Breeding Death, whose success prompted the release of 2002's Resurrection Through Carnage. Following a reshuffling of the lineup, the band began work on its second album Nightmares Made Flesh, which dropped in 2004. With changes in the band's composition, the next couple of years saw Bloodbath keep a low profile while on the lookout for a new vocalist and guitarist. It returned in 2007 with the announcement of a new EP, Unblessing the Purity, which dropped in 2008. "Eaten," "Weak Aside," "Bloodicide," "Cancer of the Soul," "Brave New Hell," "At the Behest of Their Death," "Soul Evisceration," "Mock the Cross" and "Outnumbering the Day," among others are some of Bloodbath's most popular songs.
