NYC trio Violens formed in 2007 and slowly built hype both in the US and UK around its name. Though the band didn't release a full length album until late 2010, relying instead upon singles and live shows to convey its fusion of dream pop and new wave. Synth-heavy, dramatic and full of evocative lyrics, Violens' music evokes 80s dance clubs at 2 a.m. Because of this aesthetic, the band has built a fan base ready to stay out all hours of the night, dancing to the band's dark grooves.
