Gabriela Jimeno, professionally known as Ela Minus, is a Colombian EDM artist. Born in Bogotá, she was drawn to punk and heavy metal music as a young girl. She took to playing music at the age of 12, drumming in the band Ratón Pérez with her brother. After performing with the group for almost ten years, she shifted base to the USA to study music at Berklee College where she majored in jazz drumming. It was there that she discovered electronic music, immersing herself so much in it that she added a major in synthesizer design. She then moved to Brooklyn and began working for the synthesizer company Critter & Guitari, while also producing her own music. She adopted Ela Minus as her alias and started working on music that mixed her bilingual vocals with thumping beats and different textures. Her debut single "Jamaica," released in 2015 to positive feedback and her first EP First Words dropped later that year. It was followed by Grow and Adapt, in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Her most popular tracks are "dominique," "A.R.P.," "megapunk," "el cielo no es de nadie" and "they told us it was hard, but they were wrong."
