Preferring the DIY aesthetic that many experimental bedroom pop stars before him have utilized, like Smog and Ariel Pink, Sam Mehran, who goes by the pseudonym Outer Limits Recordings, has apparently been amassing a catalog of music for years. While these tracks have been up on YouTube for quite some time, he didn't come into the public eye until he recently signed to the Transparent Records imprint. Mehran's DIY bedroom pop isn't gritty and difficult to listen to however; instead it's highly polished and reminiscent of golden pop tunes of the 60s and 70s, sounding something like spaced-out vintage prom music. While Outer Limits Recordings seems to be content with being an underground phenomena, off of most people's radar, the musician creates catchy tunes that once listened to, are irresistible.
