Eliza Sophie Caird (a.k.a Eliza), formerly Eliza Doolittle is an English singer who manages to tastefully combine modern bubblegum pop with retro sonic elements like soul, jazz and ska. Born and raised in Birmingham, Eliza spent her late teens equally enamored by classic vocalists like Stevie Wonder as she was by British indie rock upstarts such as Bloc Party and the Arctic Monkeys. Her breezy songs are full of horn arrangements, upright bass grooves and ragtime piano flourishes that is comparable to fellow English vocalists, Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen.
