Former BBC Radio 1 DJ and host of the experimental electronic music show Breezeblock, Mary Anne Hobbs is considered by most to have been an unprecedented champion of the UK's underground electronic music scene, helping launch the careers of many now-famed dubstep producers. Though Hobbs supported the forward-thinking "bass music" of many different genres, dubstep is Hobbs' true claim to fame and music style of choice. Hobbs has since left BBC and her legendary show for a teaching spot at a London University. Mary Anne Hobbs has released a number of compilations that feature producers she has hand-picked to provide material.
