Austin, Texas' own indie-songstress Maggie Walters plays folk music that is energized by her raspy vocals. Her acoustic cover of The Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me" is a particularly good example of this. What also epitomizes Walters' unique musical sense are the music videos on her YouTube channel, which is mostly random home-footage of her shot in and around her studio recording space. One of Walters' earliest gigs, playing several times a week, was at a bar in Chicago owned by Don Gibb, who of course played Ogre in the "Revenge of the Nerds" movies in the 80s.
