Jakob is a New Zealand-based post-rock band comprising Jeff Boyle, Maurice Beckett and Jason Johnston. Created in 1998, the band started out by opening for artists such as Salmonella Dub and Pitch Black. It released its self-titled EP Jakob in 1999 while touring across the country. The year 2001 saw the release of Jakob's first full-length studio album. Titled Subsets of Sets, the album was well-received by audiences and was nominated for a bNet NZ Music Award. Following a brief period of dormancy, the band regrouped in 2003 to work on its next album Cale:Drew. Released the same year, the sophomore album helped the band pick up its second bNet nomination. As Jakob's career picked up momentum, the band began touring abroad in countries such as the USA, the UK, Denmark and Australia. It has since played at the South by Southwest Festival and performed as part of Blink's A Low Hum Tour. Some of its other works include albums Solace and Sines, the EP Dominion², and singles "Can We Come in?," "Drive Here And Then," "Semaphore" and "Malachite," to name a few.
