Gospel Gangstaz is a Christian hip-hop group from Southern California that has risen to prominence since the groups beginnings in 1994 as a redemptive vehicle for various former members of LA's most infamous gangs, the Crips and the Bloods. Where other, more reactionary Christian rap acts seek to demonize the gritty and "immoral" state of rap in this day and age, the members of Gospel Gangstaz have no real agenda against their brothers in the secular rap industry. Instead, they seek to celebrate the overwhelming sense of understanding obtained through religious experience--hoping that many of their listeners who run the risk of living a criminal lifestyle might come to a similar understanding in their own life.
