Suicidal Tendencies is a hardcore punk band that emerged out of the Venice Beach area of Los Angeles in 1981. The band has often been referred to as one of the fathers of crossover thrash since its 1983 self-titled debut album. The album showcased the single "Institutionalized," the first crossover metal song to earn significant airplay on MTV. Despite a shifting lineup and more than its fair share of hiatuses, Suicidal Tendencies has moved forward with founder and front man Mike Muir as the band's only consistent member. Suicidal Tendencies dropped its eleventh studio album and first record in a decade, No Mercy Fool!/The Suicide Family, in 2010, followed by 13, in 2013.
