When bassist Jasper Verhulst was touring as a member of Jacco Gardner's psychedelic rock band and stopped off in Istanbul, he became smitten with Turkish psych and folk music from the 1960s and 1970s. When the Dutch musician returned home to the Netherlands, he enlisted other musicians to recreate some of the sounds that he fell in love with back in Turkey. The result is Altın Gün. The group released its debut album, On, in 2018 and since then the group has been attracting fans of forward-thinking psychedelic folk material.
