Jordi Savall is a viola player from Spain who has done much to popularize Western "early music" since he made his debut in the early 1970s. One of the prominent figures to enliven and bring back the viola back to prominence, Savall has been credited as being one of his generation's foremost authorities on the instrument. Though his song choice primarily ranges from medieval to renaissance and baroque periods, he is occasionally known to branch off and venture into classical and romantic periods as well.
