Evan Dando is an American musician best known for his work with the alternative rock band, The Lemonheads. Growing up as a teenager in Boston in the 1980s, he turned to independent rock and punk bands such as The Replacements and Husker Du for inspiration in his burgeoning songwriting skills. Forming the Lemonheads in 1986 and serving as chief songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, Dando saw the band through its brush with fame via 1990s alternative rock radio, where it scored a couple of hits that included a popular cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson." As his band has gone through several hiatuses and stylistic shifts over the years, Dando has remained active as a solo performer and has even recorded a couple full-length albums on his own.
